Celtic have been without a permanent manager since Brendan Rodgers left the club last month, and a number of names have been linked with the job at Parkhead

Wilfried Nancy is reportedly the leading contender to take over as Celtic FC’s new manager. The Hoops have been without a permanent gaffer since Antrim man Brendan Rodgers left last month, with Celtic icon Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney stepping in for the past four games.

Football betting site BetVictor has tipped Nancy, currently managing Columbus Crew in the States, as the 11/8 favourite to fill Rodgers’ shoes at Parkhead.

Kjetil Knutsen follows closely with odds of 2/1, ahead of Martin O’Neill (11/4) and Ipswich Town’s boss Kieran McKenna (10/1).

Ferencváros manager Robbie Keane, a former Celtic player, has also been linked with the position (10/1), but his decision to spend two seasons at the helm of Maccabi Tel Aviv has ruffled some feathers among the Celtic faithful, reports the Irish Mirror.

Shaun Maloney and Ange Postecoglu (both 16/1) have also been named as potential candidates, along with Wales manager Craig Bellamy (20/1), who ruled himself out of contention last week.

Nancy seems to be the clear favourite at this stage, and could be available as Columbus Crew’s MLS season ended with a play-off series loss to Cincinnati.

The 47 year old first stepped into management in 2021 when he took over from Thierry Henry as head coach of Montreal. After two seasons, he moved to Columbus Crew, guiding them to MLS Cup victory in 2023.
