The humourist will raise funds for a charity that he is an ambassador of, by completing a 24-hour walking challenge
Cork stand-up comedian and Assisi Animal Sanctuary Ambassador, Andrew Ryan, will be stepping up — quite literally — for a cause close to his heart later this month.
Andrew will take on an epic 24-hour walking challenge to raise vital funds and awareness for Assisi Animal Sanctuary, who are one of the largest independent animal welfare charities in Northern Ireland.
The comedian has previously appeared on Russell Howard’s Good News on BBC Three and Live at The Comedy Store on the Comedy Central channel.

Andrew said: “I’m so proud to be supporting Assisi — they do amazing work caring for animals who really need a helping hand. My wife Julie and I have a cat, our beloved Finbar, so aligning myself with Assisi Animal Sanctuary was such a natural fit.
“When I became an ambassador, I wanted to do something big to raise awareness and funds, and what better way than to walk around North Down for 24 hours straight.
“It’s going to be tough, but knowing it’s for such a brilliant cause, and with the possibility of maybe a few wagging tails at the finish line, this will definitely keep me going.”
Starting from the Assisi charity shop on Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, at 10am on Tuesday, November 18, Andrew will trek through Newtownards, Holywood, and Bangor, stopping in at Assisi’s charity shops along the way. And, the journey won’t end there as Andrew will continue walking right through the night in Ward Park, before setting off again on Wednesday, November 19 for the final stretch. The journey will end at the Assisi Animal Sanctuary itself, where Andrew will complete his 24-hour challenge.
Grace Williams, Fundraising Manager at Assisi Animal Sanctuary said: “We are absolutely thrilled and so grateful to have Andrew’s incredible support this Christmas. Taking on a 24-hour walking challenge is no small feat, and it truly shows his dedication and compassion for animals in need. “Every step he takes helps shine a light on the vital work we do each and every day and raises much-needed funds to give more animals a second chance at a happy life. We’re so proud to have Andrew as our Assisi Ambassador — and we’ll be cheering him on every step of the way.”
