Over £100,000 has been raised for the young family of Jennifer Woods
A Co Tyrone community has been left in ‘deep shock’ following the death of a “beloved wife” and “loving mother”.
Mother-of-three Jennifer Woods, who lived in Pomeroy, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family over the weekend following an illness.
A “precious daughter” and “cherished sister”, Jennifer was also an active member of the local GAA club, Pomeroy Plunketts, who expressed their community’s “deep shock” at her death.

A fundraiser has been launched to support Jennifer’s husband Colm and her children, Conan, Tadhg and Erin, by friends of the family and has raised over £110,000 so far – you can donate to the fundraiser here.
It reads: “Colm and Jennifer have always helped and supported anyone in their time of need and are always the first to help in anyway needed.
“Their friends are asking the community to rally around them and show them and their children how much we care and that we will support them in their time of need.”
Kind words of support have poured in for Jennifer and her family from those who have been touched by her “gentle spirit” and “warmth, wisdom, and calming presence”.
A spokesperson for Pomery Plunketts remembered the mother as someone who always greeted you with a smile.
They said: “The committee and members of Pomeroy Plunketts GAC are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our esteemed member Jennifer Woods.
“The whole Pomeroy Community is in deep shock at her loss. There weren’t too many matches Jennifer or the Woods family ever missed.
“Jennifer was always around the pitch with the children, and you were always greeted with a smile. Living in Pomeroy now for 10 years, she never forgot her roots in Aughabrack, which was evident when she was spotted proudly wearing a Clann na nGael jersey only nine short weeks ago when our senior ladies played them at home.
“Jennifer will be sorely missed by her home teammates and all the friends she made at Pomeroy Plunketts. We offer our sincere sympathy to her husband Colm, their children Conan, Tadhg and Erin, and to the wider Woods and O’Neill families.”
Jennifer was also a committee member at Pomeroy Playschool and After School, who described her as a “dear friend” who will be missed by all who knew her.
“Jennifer was not only a valued member of our committee, but also a cherished friend whose warmth, wisdom, and calming presence touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her,” they said in a dedication post.
“The Woods family have been a great help to our Playschool and After School throughout the years, with Colm and Jennifer volunteering their time to help us in whatever way possible and for that we are forever grateful.
Jennifer’s gentle spirit brought comfort and balance, and her legacy of care and compassion will continue to inspire both current and past members alike.
“She will be greatly missed by all of us, but her memory will live on in the community she helped nurture and the lives she has so beautifully impacted.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to her loving husband Colm and their children Conan, Tadhg and Erin and to the O’Neill and Woods families during this extremely difficult time.”
Her home GAA team, Clann Na nGael, remembered Jennifer’s success in the club and her passion and dedication to both the sport and the club.
They said: “Jennifer was a proud former player of our club and a key part of our early success in ladies football. In 2007, our first year fielding a senior ladies team, Jennifer helped the team achieve a remarkable double – winning both the Division 4 League and Championship.
“That success was followed by further glory in 2008 as the team went on to win the Division 3 League and Championship. Jennifer’s commitment, passion, and team spirit were central to those special years and will always be remembered fondly by all who shared the field and the journey with her.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Jennifer’s family on this heartbreaking loss – to her husband Colm and children Conan, Tadhg and Erin.
“We extend our sympathies to the O’Neill and Browne family circle, Jennifer’s friends and also the community and club of Pomeroy, who will all feel this loss deeply.”
