Emmerdale is set to air a powerful and emotional special episode on Friday, which will have a ‘lasting impact’ on two characters

Emmerdale is poised to broadcast a compelling and must-watch special episode this Friday, which promises to have a ‘lasting impact’ on two characters.

The fresh storyline, centring on April Windsor and Dawn Fletcher, is expected to be packed with “tension, danger, and emotional” scenes as the pair “navigate harrowing challenges that will leave a lasting impact”.

April, portrayed by Amelia Flanagan, becomes caught up in a frightening and perilous situation whilst trying to settle her growing debts to Celia Daniels and Ray Walters.

Before long, Ray puts pressure on the teenager to undertake a particularly risky task, resulting in a terrifying confrontation as April frantically fights for survival.

However, it’s not solely April who takes centre stage in the episode, as Dawn, portrayed by Olivia Bromley, reveals details about her own troubled history, reports the Daily Star.

Dawn’s background bears resemblance to April’s current circumstances as she courageously recounts her previous experiences and pledges to safeguard her daughter, Clemmie, portrayed by Mabel Addison.

Subsequently, whilst April wrestles with the consequences of her trauma, Dawn’s own history “serves as a stark reminder of the cycles of vulnerability and the fight for a better future”.

Speaking about the forthcoming episode, Dawn actress Olivia, 29, commented: “This episode is really important because Dawn didn’t have a stable family or homelife, which she explains to Joe in this episode, and you can really see how she got herself into such a difficult situation for so many years.

“But what’s interesting with April is, she has such a wonderful family, and the world really is her oyster – she’s got a stable loving home, she’s at school and yet she’s still managed to go down this path.”

Celia, a feisty agricultural worker, made her debut on the ITV drama earlier this year as Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) fellow farmer.

Yet in a shocking twist, Celia was lately exposed as the brains behind the area’s narcotics network run by Ray (Joe Absolom), unveiling a far more sinister aspect to her persona.

Displaying her brutal and controlling temperament, Celia struck teenager April and delivered a harsh ultimatum regarding the regulations of drug dealing.

This menace came after an episode where April’s sibling Leo was hospitalised following his consumption of an ecstasy tablet that April had accidentally lost whilst heading to encounter Ray.

Celia warned April her life was at risk unless she deceived police about how she obtained the banned drugs, a requirement the schoolgirl swiftly agreed to.

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX at 7:30pm
