Emmerdale has been pulled from ITV’s schedule on Tuesday night to make way for football

Emmerdale will not be broadcast on Tuesday (October 14) due to football coverage.

The scheduling change means the soap will be absent from its regular 7:30pm slot on ITV1 this evening, with no early release episode available on ITVX either.

ITV1 will instead show a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Latvia and England from 7pm to 10pm tonight. The popular drama will resume on Wednesday at its normal time.

Viewers will now face an extra day’s wait to witness Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) homecoming to the village after his French excursion, reports the Daily Star.

Monday’s episode (October 13) saw Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) take a call revealing her spouse, Cain, had been detained at Dover.

This followed his departure from the Dales whilst pursuing villain John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) to seek justice for his son Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) demise.

Meanwhile, Moira and their boy Isaac have been struck down by an unexplained ailment.

In other storylines, passion reignited between former lovers Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), though Robert’s spouse Kev (Chris Coghill) remains hidden.

Carl Holliday (Charlie Munro Joyce) was also arrested for distributing an incident image of Clemmie Reed (Mabel Addison), leaving their two families clashing. Will Carl face harsh consequences?

Following weeks of worrying, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) was informed that he does not have cancer, leaving his fiancée, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), over the moon. But the question remains, what is causing the doctor’s health problems?

Devoted fans expressed their frustration at the programme being pulled, with one writing on X: “No #Emmerdale again due to b***** football again! @ITV Come on.”

Another Facebook user enquired: “Is emmerdale not on tonight? Xx”, whilst a third added: “No, blooming football.”

“P*** off football, getting on my nerves that why people have Sky Sports not for ITV or BBC One”, another added.

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX
