A number of people had to find elsewhere to stay after expecting to stay the night at Mr & Mrs Jones hotel in Portstewart
A woman who expected to stay the night at a North Coast hotel has expressed outrage after arriving there for her booking only to find that it was closed.
Nicola Dunseith had booked and paid for a night at Portstewart hotel Mr & Mrs Jones with her husband in order to celebrate her birthday and says she was shocked to arrive there on Saturday, October 11, to find a sign on the door saying that it was closed for a refurbishment.
Speaking to Belfast Live, she said that they had not received any notification from the hotel that it would be closed for their booking and have not been able to speak to anyone from the hotel about what has happened.

She said that she has been told that the signs appeared on the hotel on Friday and other guests had turned up unaware of this and have had to find other places to stay at short notice.
A sign on the door of the hotel says that it is “entering into a refurbishment project for upgrades”.
Nicola said: “We were looking forward to having a nice night away and couldn’t believe it when we arrived at the hotel and saw that it was closed. We have not heard a thing about this and have not been able to speak to anyone at the hotel to find out what is going on.
“It is disgusting the way that we have been treated and we have been told that there have been lots of other people turning up to the hotel only to find out that it is closed. Thankfully we managed to find somewhere else to stay the night and will try and get our room refunded through Booking.com but it is horrible that it is treating customers like this.”
Mr & Mrs Jones hotel has been contacted for comment but not responded at the time of publication.
