Lucy Fallon was moved to tears during an emotional meeting with Coronation Street producers after nervously sharing the news of her second pregnancy
Lucy Fallon, the beloved actress best known for her role as Bethany Platt on Coronation Street, recently revealed she was moved to tears during an emotional meeting with the soap’s producers.
The soap star has experienced an eventful time since finding love with Huddersfield Town captain and midfielder Ryan Ledson. The couple met on the celebrity dating app Raya at the end of 2020, following Lucy’s split from actor Tom Leech.
Within months, she became pregnant, but heartbreakingly suffered a miscarriage. She previously recalled how she discovered the news during a private scan at seven weeks.
Determined to grow her family, Lucy conceived again and welcomed her first child, Sonny, in January 2023. Just over a year later, Lucy unexpectedly discovered she was pregnant with her second child, Nancy—a revelation she admits she was initially terrified to share with her Corrie bosses.
Speaking to The Sun, Lucy said: “I was in the green room with everybody and they were talking about story lines, and I felt tears falling.
“I called Caroline, our cast liaison, and she was like: ‘This [pregnancy] is good news. Why are you crying?’ Then I went into the producer’s office in tears and she was obviously really nice about it. I’d built it up, thinking everyone was going to be so annoyed.”
Despite the emotional moment, Lucy has returned to filming with a renewed sense of joy. She says her schedule has been adjusted since returning from maternity leave, with no more than two consecutive filming days at a time—a pace she secretly enjoys.
“It’s quite a nice break,” she chuckles. “I’ve found it harder—much harder—this time around with two.”
Lucy admits that juggling her on-screen role with motherhood can be challenging but rewarding. “Yesterday and the day before, I was in The Rovers, I didn’t really have anything to say. I was just watching it all unfold. Obviously, if I was given a story line, great! But, equally, if I’m having a nice time with the Platts, that’s perfect.”
Lucy and Ryan went public with their relationship in June 2021. Their romance blossomed in lockdown and they then announced in September 2022 that Lucy was pregnant with her and Ryan’s first child and was already five months pregnant.
The 29-year-old confirmed earlier this month that she was officially back on the cobbles. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (July 8), she posted a photo to her Story from her dressing room.
She could be seen standing in front of the mirror, surrounded by glamour lights with her name on a label attached across the top. Alongside the post, Lucy wrote: “And just like that she’s back,” as she posed with a thumbs-up to the camera.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
