The Co Down singer was joined by country legends Philomena Begley, Daniel O’Donnell and Declan Nerney
Co Down country singer Susan McCann has recalled 50 years in the music industry during the Late Late Show Country Special.
The String of Diamonds hitmaker was joined by legends Philomena Begley, Daniel O’Donnell and Declan Nerney as she looked back on five decades of performing and her special friendship with Philomena.
Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty joked with the pair as he informed the audience that Susan had painted Philomena’s toenails before the show.
“Now you two, this is how you know that you’re a proper friend. Susan, you actually painted Philomena’s toenails tonight. You did a good job,” he said.
“I was down on my knees when she had her feet up like this,” she joked.
Recalling her big break, Susan said, “I often say only for Big Tom’s Still the King, and I’ve never been heard of. That was a huge hit for me. I was a household name after for about 6 months.”
Elsewhere on the show, Sligo-born singer and Irish Eurovision entry Sandy Kelly was inducted into the Late Late Show Country Music Hall of Fame after 50 years in the business.
