Australia’s biggest travelling heavy music event, Good Things Festival, has added a surprising new name to its 2025 roster: 15-year-old viral breakout Maple’s Pet Dinosaur. They’ll play across all three East Coast dates alongside TOOL, Weezer, Garbage, Refused, The All-American Rejects, and Knocked Loose.
The band emerged earlier this year with ‘lego’, a two-minute blast of hardcore urgency that tackles teen bullying head-on. Its DIY video — shot entirely on a neighbour’s Ring doorbell camera — became the most-viewed Instagram Reel in history by an Australian artist, clocking over 54 million views. The track has since travelled across TikTok, X, YouTube, and Reddit, with radio spins on triple j, Triple M, and tastemaker stations worldwide. Chartmetric now ranks Maple among the Top 100 metalcore artists globally.
Festival promoter Chris O’Brien called their inclusion “a big opportunity for a young band to prove themselves,” while Maple herself admitted she was planning to make a fake ID to catch Refused’s final Australian shows before being invited to perform. “My goal for 2026 was to play Good Things, so to tick that box a year early is unreal,” she said.
For fans arriving early, Maple’s Pet Dinosaur promise an uncompromising first glimpse at one of the country’s fastest-rising heavy acts.
