M&S shoppers ‘obsessed’ with chocolate box that’s ideal for Christmas

Marks & Spencer shoppers are praising what they claim is the perfect chocolate box and now urges people to ‘run’ there to get their hands on the tin of chocolates

With Christmas now just around the corner, you might also be beginning to turn your thoughts to the festive food shop. From the main event of turkey or ham to the many snacks and drinks, it’s not a bad idea to start the prep early in order to help spread the cost.

Many Brits will argue that a big tub of wrapped chocolates is one of the best Christmas food traditions. After all, when else can you indulge in all the chocolates you want with no guilt? There are plenty of options on the market, too, from supermarket own brands and posh, upmarket options and, of course, Celebrations and Quality Street.

Recently, shoppers noticed that while the cost of a tub of Quality Street has remained the same – around £7 with some variation across supermarkets – the size of the tubs has been reduced from last year from 600g to 550g, equating to around six fewer chocolates per box. The tubs are now also being sold in plastic rather than the metal tubs many will remember as the standard.

While many shoppers are still staying loyal to the classic Christmas tub, some people have decided to switch it up this year and opt for a supermarket alternative they claim is even ‘better’.

Taking to TikTok, one woman shared that she’d found the perfect chocolate box in Marks and Spencer, and now urges people to ‘run’ there to get their hands on the tin of chocolates.

“Run, don’t walk. M&S Big Mix. Look at that. Full to the brim. Full to the brim with all your favourites,” the woman said in her video.

The woman proceeded to display the side of the metal tin, which revealed the various flavours of chocolates that were included, from Hazelnut in Caramel, Strawberry Crème and Salted Caramel to Coffee Truffle, Milk Crème, Cream Truffle, Caramel Fudge, Orange Crème, Biscuit in Caramel, and Butterscotch Éclair.

The Big Mix metal tin, which contains a whopping 1.1kg of chocolates, is available at M&S and on Ocado for £12 each. You can also purchase a smaller 650g paper package of the chocolate mix for £7. Despite the tins being pricier compared to the likes of Celebrations and Quality Street, numerous shoppers insisted it was ‘worth it’ for the metal tin alone – plus the additional 100g of sweet treats.

Viewers quickly flocked to the comment section to express their astonishment, as many pledged to choose this option rather than the traditional Quality Street box this coming Christmas.

“This is going in the Christmas cupboard omg,” one person commented, whilst another viewer remarked: “Ooooo think I’ll be going to m&s.”

A third person declared: “A massive metal box of chocolate for Christmas. m&s understands what it is to be British.

“Just about polished a tin in one week between me and my two boys. Definitely gonna get another one and yes they are better than Quality Street,” someone else revealed.

Another person added: “I love these and will buy them in the tin, instead of quality street!!!!”

A spokesperson for Nestle recently told The Mirror about the size of the Quality Street tub this year: “Each year we introduce a new Quality Street range with formats, sizes, weights and RRPs based on a range of factors including the cost of manufacturing, ingredients and transport and the preferences of our customers and consumers.

“We think our 2025 range and pricing is competitive with a good variety of choice for Quality Street fans. Final prices are at the discretion of individual retailers.”
