Emmerdale fans are convinced that Cain Dingle could be set for a heartbreaking exit after he was involved in a showdown with John Sugden in Wednesday’s episode
Emmerdale viewers are speculating that Cain Dingle might be on the brink of a heart-wrenching departure.
Cain, portrayed by Jeff Hordley, has been a mainstay of the soap for 25 years, having first appeared in 2000. As the village’s mischievous charmer, Cain has won over viewers throughout the years.
He’s also been central to numerous major plotlines. From his love affair with cousin Charity Dingle, played by Emma Atkins, to his illicit liaison and subsequent relationship with Moira, portrayed by Natalie J. Robb, his stint in the Dales has been anything but dull.
Particularly at present, as Cain recently discovered that his son Nate Robinson, played by Jurell Carter, was killed by John Sugden, portrayed by Oliver Farnworth. Fans will remember that John murdered Nate last year and disposed of his body in a lake, reports the Daily Star.
Nate’s body was eventually discovered and John managed to frame an innocent individual. However, this month saw John’s world come crashing down when his crimes were revealed.
With everyone after him, John has coerced Caleb Miligan, played by William Ash, into aiding his escape. If he refused, John threatened to inform the police about his wife Ruby, played by Beth Cordingly, murdering Anthony Fox, portrayed by Nicholas Day.
In Tuesday’s episode (23 September), Caleb drove John out of the village. However, when he stopped in the middle of the woods, it quickly became apparent that Cain was part of the plan and was armed with a shotgun.
A dramatic confrontation ensued as Cain vented his fury on John for the murder of his son. However, John later revealed that if Cain were to kill him, an email detailing Anthony’s murder would automatically be sent to the police.
Both men were taken aback, and John tried to attack Cain with a rock. But Cain was quick to react, pointing the shotgun at John, with the episode culminating in the sound of the gun firing.
Now, viewers are speculating that Cain might end up killing John Sugden, potentially leading to the character’s departure from the show. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Let’s hope Cain pulled the trigger on John!”.
Another fan wrote: “I don’t want that to happen because then Cain will be sent to prison!” A third agreed: “That’s true actually.” Another chimed in: “I thought that too. Or they would have to cover up another murder again.” A fifth speculated: “Maybe he gets sent to prison for a while?”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
