Emmerdale’s Mackenzie Boyd was found alive in Thursday’s episode, but many fear that his ordeal is far from over
It’s been a whirlwind of activity in Emmerdale, as the reign of terror by villain John Sugden nears its conclusion.
Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) recently became John’s (Oliver Farnworth) latest target after he uncovered the truth behind Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) murder.
Fans of the ITV soap will recall that John was responsible for Nate’s death following last year’s barn fire, before framing Owen Michaels (Simon Haines) for the crime.
Mack was believed to be dead after being shot in the chest, with John ominously looming over him with a large rock.
However, it soon came to light that John had been holding Mack captive in an underground bunker at his childhood home, where he was staying with his husband, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), reports the Daily Star.

The plot took a sinister turn when John confessed his crimes to Aaron, before pushing them both off a cliff.
In the hospital, John blamed the accident on his brother, Robert (Ryan Hawley), who frantically tried to prove his innocence, despite the mounting evidence against him.
With Aaron in a coma, a frantic John attempted to disconnect his husband’s life support earlier this week, before hastily leaving the hospital.
While John hitched a ride with an oblivious Cain (Jeff Hordley), Aaron finally regained consciousness and confirmed that John had kidnapped Mack.
The hunt for Mack began during Thursday’s (September 18) hour-long episode, with Aaron later revealing John’s string of crimes to his family.
When officers finally discovered the bunker, they were stunned to find it empty, with only traces of Mack left behind.
It subsequently emerged that John had secretly taken Mack to the hospital, where he claimed that he had discovered him by the roadside.
Mack’s wife Charity (Emma Atkins) and sister Moira (Natalie J Robb) were distraught with concern as medics confirmed that Mack was experiencing dehydration and malnutrition, alongside a fractured shoulder and a crushed ankle.
As the episode concluded, Charity enjoyed a moment alone with her sleeping husband following their weeks-long separation.
“You know what I want more than anything right now? Just a moment with you, one last moment. It’s not a lot to ask, is it?” she said, moments before Mack opened his eyes and whispered her name.
Soap enthusiasts were thrilled to see Mack alive following weeks of uncertainty. However, many also expressed their worries for the character on social media.
“I reckon Mack is not out of the woods yet,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another added: “Exactly what I think, we’ll get this touching moment with Charity and then we’ll lose Mack.”
A third said: “Surely they’re not killing off Mack at this late stage – he’s lasted so long!!” with another fan similarly sharing: “They better not kill Mack after he’s been found. I’ll be devastated.”
Will Mack survive his injuries and will John finally face repercussions for his actions?
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX
