Former taxi driver Chris Drennan and his wife Heather have been on a remarkable weight loss journey over the past few years
A married couple from Co Down have been on a remarkable weight loss journey over the past few years, losing a combined 21st as they now aim to help others.
Chris and Heather Drennan from Newtownards used to find themselves getting out of breath just by walking up the stairs and would find it difficult doing anything that required the slightest bit of exercise.
Then four years ago Heather decided that she was going to change her life and get in better shape and improve her health, eventually going on to lose 14st and inspiring her taxi driver husband to do the same.

With his wife pushing him on, Chris managed to lose seven stone and has gone from being someone who would avoid exercise to going to the gym four to five times a week and is now preparing to take on a more than 300 mile cycling challenge.
Speaking to Belfast Live, Chris said that he and Heather lost weight by changing their lifestyle and diet, with Herbalife products playing a key role in this.
Chris said: “After seeing the progress that Heather was making with her weight loss I was inspired to do the same and it really has been life-changing.
“Working as a taxi driver at the time meant that I didn’t have much time to exercise at all and just walking up the stairs would have me out of breath. But then once I got going and made the changes I needed to with my diet and lifestyle things started to go quite quickly.
“Herbalife products worked very well for us, but we also made sure to get our steps in and that we were exercising correctly and I have gone from never doing anything to going to the gym four to five times a week.
“Heather and I also run a nutrition club in Bangor where we are working to help hundreds of other people improve their health.”
Later this month, Chris will be taking part in a charity bike ride from Slovenia to Budapest in order to raise money for the Herbalife Family Foundation, which will see him take on a 322 mile challenge over the course of three days.
Chris continued: “I have never really cycled at all before in my life before this and I can’t believe that I am going to be doing over 300 miles in a few days time. I did a 92 mile bike ride the other day and it killed me, so I don’t know how I am going to do three of those in a row.
“I would just like to thank everyone who has donated to the appeal so far and supporting this really great charity.”
