New World Artists has added Maple’s Pet Dinosaur to its roster for exclusive live touring representation across Australia and New Zealand.
The Newcastle outfit is fronted by 14-year-old Maple, who broke through this month with debut single Lego. The track, released on 13 August, has rapidly gained traction: over 50 million Instagram views, 2.2 million TikTok views, and more than 40,000 Spotify streams in just two weeks. Listeners have been tuning in from the US, Europe, Brazil and Greece.
Lego is a self-described bully diss track, mixing heavy guitars with near-rap verses and a chorus written to be shouted back. Maple cites the Beastie Boys, Faith No More, The Melvins and L7 as touchstones, but stresses the importance of writing about the present: “I want to tell real stories about being a teenager today, especially a teenage girl. Writing this song gave me the strength to set boundaries and find my people.”
Triple j gave the track early support on Late Nights and Home and Hosed, with Triple M adding it to national rotation. Rolling Stone AU/NZ praised its energy, while Life Without Andy described Maple as “full of rage” and “way beyond her years.” International airplay has followed, and Spotify added Lego to its Fresh Finds playlist while Apple Music picked it up across multiple rock playlists. Meta has also enlisted Maple to front a global content campaign.
On signing with New World Artists, Maple said: “It’s important as a young artist that I’m with a team that will support the band and I as we grow into bigger stages, and I couldn’t be more confident that I’m in the right place.”
Edwin Tehrani from New World Artists added: “We are very excited about working with Maple and rapidly rolling out a live strategy designed to build resilience, developing performance skills and growing a live following at a sustainable pace for such a young musician.”
