Earlier this year, Realme showed a prototype smartphone with a 10,000 mAh battery, which was just 8.5 mm thick and 215 g. Now, the Chinese company is ready to announce an actual consumer device with an even larger battery.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Realme teased a device with a battery bigger than 10,000 mAh. The teaser says that more details about the device will be revealed on August 27.
Alongside the image teaser, Realme also posted a video with its Vice President, Chase Xu, which doesn’t reveal more details about the device. However, in the caption, the company boasts about redefining limits.

The prototype we saw in May was based on Realme’s GT lineup and used a silicon-anode battery technology. That technology enables manufacturers to make higher-density batteries, and it’s likely what Realme will use in the upcoming device.
NOT BIG ENOUGH? NOW, IT IS.

Even with the risk that Realme is overhyping this device, the potential to see a leap in battery capacity is exciting. Silicon-carbon batteries are getting more popular by the day, but they’re facing some challenges, and the biggest smartphone manufacturers seem to avoid them. Some of the most popular flagship devices barely breach the 5,000 mAh mark. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has exactly a 5,000 mAh battery, but the iPhone 16 Pro lags behind with a 4,685 mAh battery. The brand-new Pixel 10 Pro XL, on the other hand, goes up to 5,200 mAh.
One of the standouts on the US market is the OnePlus 13, which has a 6,000 mAh battery, but it also pales in comparison to many devices sold in China. For example, Xiaomi just released the Redmi Note 15 Pro, with a 7,000 mAh battery inside a 7.8 mm body – thinner than both Apple and Samsung’s flagship phones.
I am trying really hard not to get overly excited about Realme’s announcement, but even the idea of solving modern smartphones’ biggest issue sounds amazing. After so many years of battery anxiety, I’d love to finally return to the glory days of charging my phone once or twice a week.
