Coronation Street fans reckon they’ve sussed out the real motive behind Eva Price’s comeback, and it doesn’t bode well.
After a seven-year absence, it was recently revealed that Eva (portrayed by Catherine Tyldesley) is set to make her return to the cobbles.
First appearing in 2011, Eva arrived as Leanne Battersby’s (Jane Danson) sister and Stella’s (Michelle Collins) daughter, quickly becoming embroiled in major storylines.

These include her Rovers Return Inn job and her tumultuous relationship with Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), which ended in despair after his infidelity with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).
Eva bid farewell to Weatherfield in 2018, moving to France with her mum, Stella, following Aidan’s tragic suicide.
This week, however, it’s been confirmed that Eva is on her way back to the street, and she’s not coming alone. She’ll be accompanied by her beau Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) and his meddlesome mother Maggie (Pauline McLynn), reports the Daily Star.
While the news of Eva’s return has thrilled many fans, some can’t shake the feeling that a devastating plot twist is on the horizon.
On a Corrie fan page on Facebook, one viewer exclaimed: “Can’t wait to have Eva back!” Yet, others speculated about a potential shock cancer storyline, drawing parallels to Julie Carp’s (Katy Cavanagh) recent return, which saw her character pass away from cancer shortly afterwards.
They commented: “She’s probably gonna have cancer like Julie isn’t she?” Another added their thoughts: “Yeah maybe.”
A third person joined the conversation, saying: “I hope not, what’s the point of bringing her back then? !” While a fourth expressed concern: “I’ll be so sad if that’s the case, always liked her.”
In relation to Eva’s comeback on Coronation Street, producer Kate Brooks shared her excitement: “We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow. The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees-ups galore.”
Brooks continued, praising the cast: “To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline’s considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can’t wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done. Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be an exciting and eventful ride.”
