Abbie is now working through another 300 orders and plans to donate some of the pouches to local schools in September
A Co Armagh teen has started a new ‘Period Pouch’ business which sold out within 24 hours.
13-year-old Abbie Morgan from Craigavon started her Facebook page just last Tuesday, with another 300 orders already having come in.
The Facebook page explains: “The period pouch is a product designed to promote period positivity for young girls and teens.. and make sure they are prepared for the ‘big’ day.”

Proud mum Caroline said: “I had made [a ‘period pouch’] for Abbie myself last year, just for her to keep in her wee school bag. Whenever she showed it to her friends, they all loved it as well. She had wanted to make some for her friends and asked me to get the stuff.
“I went back online and ordered lots of bits and pieces for her to make a few, and then there was a lot left. She had said that she was going to sell them. I said, ‘yeah, absolutely’. The stuff had sort of all lay there, and just over the summer she’s been out and about loads, asking for money.
“Then I said, ‘you have all that stuff out there to make those wee period pouches, why don’t you get stuck in over the summer here and sell them?’”
Caroline added: “She only had stuff to make 50 pouches. I had set her up a Facebook page last Tuesday, and she just completely took off, which was totally unexpected.”
The 50 Period Pouches sold out in less than 24 hours.
Caroline laughed: “I had offered free local delivery around Craigavon, Lurgan, and Portadown, which is where we’re from, but Abbie was messaging people back. There was a woman in Kildare and Abbie was like, yes, I’ll get my mum to bring me down. I said ‘Abbie, do you know where Kildare is?’”
The proud Co Armagh mum said Abbie is still going, with their kitchen “like a workshop” with “bags and boxes everywhere.”
Caroline continued: “The main thing is it doesn’t take a fizz out of her, if somebody had mentioned the word period to me when I was 13, I would have died off. It doesn’t cost her second thoughts speaking about it to people.”
The 13-year-old is currently working through another 300 orders, and plans to keep going.
Her mum said: ”People have been so kind, they’ve been donating money as well, to help her buy stock, Abbie is going to donate pouches then to local schools in September.”
