Popular food spot taking over newly vacant restaurant space in East Belfast

Il Pirata announced that it was closing its doors in July and it was renowned for serving beautiful, hearty Italian dishes, Il Pirata opened its doors in late 2011 and occupied what was previously a KFC.

Down the years it’s been known as a great spot for a relaxed dinner or lunch with great variety on the menu, perfect for all the family to enjoy.

Located on the Upper Newtownards Road in the east of the city, announced the shock news on social media saying “This decision wasn’t easy, but it’s the right moment for us to close this chapter with pride, gratitude and a full heart.”.

However, it is now understood that the owners of another East Belfast hotspot, Neill’s Hill are taking over the newly vacant space which is also located on the Upper Newtownards Road.

Neill’s Hill Brasserie describes itself as a ‘classic neighbourhood restaurant’ with a wide menu. From tapas to classic dishes like fish and chips on offer for customers.

The award winning restaurant has become popular for their Sunday roasts and cocktails. The Ballyhackamore food spot has also become well known for their brunch and lunch offerings.

It’s not known yet what the new restaurant will be called and an opening date hasn’t been set just yet.
