Coronation Street viewers are convinced they have worked out the truth surrounding DS Lisa Swain’s late wife Becky – and they think it’s bad news for the detective
Coronation Street fans believe they’ve pieced together the truth about DS Lisa Swain and her late wife Becky.
Viewers will recall that Lisa was married to Becky, with whom she shared a daughter, Betsy. Tragedy struck in 2021 when Becky, also a police officer, was tragically killed on duty in a car accident.
Earlier this year, DS Swain revealed that the nefarious Radcliffe brothers, Matty and Logan, were responsible for the hit-and-run incident that claimed Becky’s life.
The brothers have since been arrested and imprisoned for the murder of their own sibling, Mason, who had attempted to aid DS Swain in bringing his family to justice for Becky’s death.
In recent episodes, Lisa expressed worry over Betsy’s questions about Becky, confiding in her new partner Carla Connor that she was desperate to prevent Betsy from discovering a letter revealing that Becky was under investigation for corruption prior to her death, reports OK!.

In Friday’s episode, Lisa, currently undergoing therapy following the murder of her colleague Craig Tinker while on police duty, made significant progress with her work therapist on what would have been her and Becky’s anniversary.
Lisa confessed to her therapist, Floyd, that she suspected there was more to Becky’s death than initially apparent and questioned if she might have been corrupt in some way.
After the therapy session, Floyd was seen making a mysterious phone call to an unknown individual, providing an update on Lisa’s therapy session.
Meanwhile, Carla secretly made her way to the prison to visit Logan, hoping to squeeze out crucial details about Becky’s disappearance. After Logan demanded payment for any information, he accidentally revealed one vital clue… the name Tia Wardley.
Back home, Lisa immediately began investigating the name online but found nothing except a news story about an American tennis player’s retirement. At the same time, Lisa crept into DI Costello’s office at the station, searching through his emails for any mention of Becky Swain.
DI Costello caught Lisa red-handed, refusing to share any details and warning that she deserved dismissal for accessing his private correspondence.
Later, an enraged Lisa confronted her colleague Kit Green after spotting his name on the system requesting access to Becky’s file, to which he confessed that DI Costello had blocked all such requests. Meanwhile, Logan suffered a brutal attack in prison following his conversation with Carla.
Viewers have flocked to social media to share their suspicions. One fan speculated: “I’ve got an idea after today’s episode that D.I. Costello (Swain’s boss) is the one who is corrupt! He’s shutting down Lisa and also Kit and I think he’s the one who’s arranged to have Logan beaten up in prison! It’s all going to lead to Lisa catching him out.”
Another responded: “Sounds credible to me. Wonder if Costello had anything to do with Becky’s death”, whilst a different viewer suggested: “I said that from start, Becky wasn’t corrupt she was bringing him down so he got rid of her” and another agreed: “Yes I think you’re on to something there.”
