Two players, including Zimbabwe international Shane Maroodza, have left just days after signing due to their ‘values and principles’ not matching the club’s standards
A League of Ireland have parted ways with a player just four days after his arrival, citing a mismatch in ‘values and principles’ with the club’s standards.
Colin Healy’s Kerry FC team had recently welcomed Shane Maroodza, an exciting signing made last Friday, and the Zimbabwe international even featured in their 3-0 defeat to UCD.
The 21 year old seemed a promising addition, having been part of Huddersfield’s academy and selected for Zimbabwe’s World Cup qualifying squad.
Yet, in a surprising turn of events, both Maroodza and goalkeeper Mathyas Randriamamy have been let go by the club.
On Tuesday evening, Kerry FC issued a brief statement: “Mathyas Randriamamy and Shane Maroodza have been released from Kerry FC. Unfortunately, their values and principles didn’t match the standards of the club,” reports the Irish Mirror.
Randriamamy, a product of PSG’s youth system, has sat on the bench for several Champions League fixtures.
Currently, Kerry sits ninth in the First Division Table, experiencing a dip in form with five consecutive league losses.
Following the release of the players, the club was quick to act, securing three new signings on Tuesday evening.
