The Northern Ireland drag queen secured second place on the show

Elle Vosque, a drag queen from Belfast was declared the runner up in the series seven final of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK. Elle appeared in the final alongside fellow drag queens Catrin Feelings, Silliexa Dixon and the eventual winner, Bones.

Elle is known as Evan Keating out of drag and the appearance on Drag Race was Elle’s first experience performing outside of Northern Ireland.

Friends and family of the star attended a watch party for the West Belfast finalist last night at Union Street bar in the city centre. Trudy Scrumptious who hosted the viewing party said “the community wanted to support” Elle and that she was “absolutely buzzing” that the Belfast drag queen had made it to the final.

She said: “Elle being on and representing. There’s been an amazing lineup of talent from Northern Ireland from such a small wee country.

“It’s really exciting to showcase Belfast Drag at its best.”

Roxy Tumbledryer was another of the hosts at the watch party and said that while Elle didn’t get the win, she was proud of her, adding that Elle “represented Belfast.”

Roxy said: “I’m so over the moon she got so far. She represented us so well. She brought our humour, she brought her own unique self. We can’t wait to have her back. The world is now her oyster.”

The Only Sassie, a friend of Elle, who first met her “years ago” when he was a creative director at Libertine, added: “I adore her so very much.

“She had auditioned to come in and work with us and I just seen utter magic in her and she is so fabulous and so gorgeous and so genuine and I thought this Queen is for me and we’ve been best friends ever since.”

He said that he is “just so proud” of the Belfast performer.

“She has such a craft and such an art to what she does in drag,” he said.

Elle has publicly spoken about her love of performing and the Ulster University student has been performing as Elle Vosque in Northern Ireland for almost five years.

She recently took a gap year from her degree in textiles and fashion, which was a qualification that came inhandy for the design challenges on the show. However, with a surname inspired by Broadway singer Jessica Vosk, it was the music-based challenges Elle was most excited about on the series.

Elle has previously told outlets that her musical theatre experience is what got her into drag.
