For those unfamiliar with the concept, grab your Christmas jumper and a group of friends and head on a bar crawl – stopping at 12 different pubs along the way and following a certain set of rules in each location.

Belfast has an overwhelming number of venues perfect for 12 pubs so to save you the hassle of picking your favourite, we have devised an easy-to-follow route in the city centre with pubs that are all within walking distance of one another.

Feel free to change any of the rules in each bar or even change the order of the bars you visit (it’s your Christmas celebrations!)

12 Pubs is for everyone and even if you do not drink or are the designated driver for the evening, Belfast stunning bars and pubs are worth the visit and many offer great alcohol free options too.

Stop 1: Belfast Christmas Market

It would be a sin not to start here…

Rule: No first or last names should be used at this stop. A penalty can be chosen by whoever’s name is used.

Stop 2: Kelly’s Cellars

An ever-busy spot this time of year!

Rule: No sitting, resting or leaning in this pub. This includes setting down your drink at any point.

If you love a pint of the black stuff, check out Whites Store – the first ever Guinness only bar.

Rule: Take a selfie with another group on their Christmas night out (the more Christmas jumpers the better)

Stop 4: Henry’s and The Jailhouse

Be sure to get a selfie with the amazing set-up at Joys Entry.

Rule: You can only order drinks which begin with the same letter as your first name

Stop 5: Muriels

Grab a burger at Pablo’s at this stop if you are starting to feel peckish.

Rule: Everyone must use their bad hand to hold their drink with while at stop five.

Stop 6: The National

Don’t worry, their fantastic beer garden space has heaters.

Rule: Spend your time in this stop pretending that you don’t know any of your group.

Stop 7: Ulster Sports Club

Remember to pace yourselves folks – still six more places to go!

Rule: Everyone must take a shot to celebrate making past the halfway point.

Stop 8: The Spaniard

Famous for their Dark and Stormy cocktails if that’s up your street.

Rule: Pick a drinking buddy and when either of you drinks, your partner must too.

Stop 9: The Thirsty Goat

Check out their pool room upstairs if you fancy some healthy competition on your 12 Pubs route.

Rule: Everyone must drink a pint of water with their round – you’ll thank us later for this one.

Stop 10: The Dirty Onion

The end is in sight!

Rule: You must try and order all your drinks without saying them by name.

Stop 11: The Harp Bar

Prepare to dance your feet off to some brilliant live music.

Stop 12: The Duke of York

Commercial Court is pretty magical this time of year.

Rule: End your night with a good pint (or half pint) of the black stuff – we’ll even let you away with a Baby Guinness for good measure.
