I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! fans are divided by one campmate taking part in the new ITV series

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here viewers have found themselves split over comedian Ruby Wax’s debut in the jungle, with some calling for her to be removed following her behaviour towards Angry Ginge.

The 72-year-old is among the 10 celebrities participating in this year’s ITV programme, making her entrance to camp yesterday alongside the likes of TV host Alex Scott, Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley and reality personality Jack Osbourne.

Despite the stars having spent merely a few hours in the jungle, certain viewers are already demanding Ruby’s departure from camp after alleging she ‘showed disrespect’ to fellow contestant Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle.

The YouTube personality has already emerged as a favourite to claim victory in the programme, with the 24-year-old scheduled to participate in the inaugural Bushtucker Trial alongside Ruby this evening.

During last night’s opening episode, audiences witnessed Ruby and Angry Ginge’s joint arrival – though some took issue with Ruby requesting he step away from her lighting and making jest of his moniker, reports the Mirror.

When questioned by Alex Scott about what they should address him as, Angry Ginge responded: “Ginge or Morgan.” Ruby retorted: “We’ll never call you that.”

Upon being asked about his family name, Angry Ginge revealed: “Burtwistle,” prompting Ruby to quip: “Oh, I see why you changed it. It’s so not cool.”

She subsequently requested he “get out of [her] way” before the cameras, jesting: “Don’t ever in this show get in my way. Do you understand? Especially when there’s a light. You’re in my light again. I’ll just be moving you throughout the show, okay?”

While some viewers were charmed by Ruby’s wit, others were less than impressed. One viewer took to social media to express their displeasure, writing: “Good god Ruby might be the rudest celeb I’ve ever seen on this show #ImACeleb,”.

Another chimed in with: “Get rid of ruby right now don’t you DARE disrespect ginge like that #ImACeleb.” A third shared a humorous GIF of someone being ejected from a house, captioning it: “Ruby Wax once the public vote opens #ImACeleb.”

A fourth viewer tweeted: “Already decided that I don’t want to watch Ruby on my TV for the next 3 weeks #ImACeleb.”

Others voiced their disapproval on TikTok, with one user demanding: “Get Ruby Wax off im a celebrity NOW! ! !” Another added: “She was so rude to him for no reason.”

However, not everyone was critical of Ruby’s performance. “All these idiot Gen Z’s not getting Ruby Wax’s humour. She’s a comedy legend. #ImACeleb,” one fan defended.

Another supporter said: “Absolutely fascinated at people not realising ar Ruby is a force of sarcastic 80s/90s female comedy. #ImACeleb.”

A third fan expressed delight at the controversy, saying: “Absolutely delighted that Ruby Wax has peeved half the nation already. A legend, a comedic icon, a diva. #ImACeleb.”

Ruby’s friend Kathy Lette appeared on Lorraine today to discuss Ruby’s stint on the show, confidently predicting that she will be crowned Queen of the Jungle. “Her only competition I think will be Jack [Osbourne] because he’s so capable and calm but she’ll take him out,” she declared.

I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX
