PSNI are appealing for information and witnesses

Information and witnesses are being sought by police in Derry following a vehicle fire this weekend.

The blaze took place in the Ballymagroarty area of the city last night, (Saturday).

Chief Inspector Cathal Pearce said: “We received a report at approximately 11.10pm on Saturday, November 15, that a car had been set alight in the Merriman Court area.

“Officers attended, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service who extinguished the blaze. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, however, extensive damage was caused to the front of the vehicle as a result of the fire, which is being treated as arson.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone who might have been in the area on Saturday evening or who saw anyone acting suspiciously, particularly two persons who were in the area on an electric scooter.
