Walk-in Acne Clinic Spotless by Dr. Amy Wechsler Opens in New York City

Treating acne has never been easier.

Board-certified dermatologist and psychiatrist Dr. Amy Wechsler and her daughter Zoe Wechsler are opening Spotless, a walk-in, acne-focused clinic that offers consultations, $250, and treatments like steroid injections, $100, peels with 20 percent salicylic acid, $100, and extractions, $100. Through consultations and follow-ups, guests will also be able to receive topical and oral prescriptions as needed, including Accutane. The first Spotless location, which includes four treatment rooms, is now open at 1053 Lexington Avenue in Manhattan.

“We saw a real need to increase access to expert acne care because there’s so many pain points we’re hitting. It’s very hard to see a dermatologist for a number of reasons. We have long wait lists, are only open usually 9 to 5 Monday through Friday. We can be expensive,” said Dr. Wechsler.

With this in mind, she also attended business school at Columbia University, graduating in 2024, with the hopes of eventually creating something with her daughter.

“In the middle of school, I kept getting texts from patients saying, ‘Hey, Dr. Amy, I’ve got this giant pimple, and I’ve got a wedding, my wedding, a big day, a huge event, any chance you can see me tonight or Saturday or Sunday,’” Dr. Wechsler recalled. “It just kept happening over and over.”

Zoe Wechsler, who had always asked her mom to treat her and her friends growing up, also recognized this phenomenon. From there, the duo thought there needed to be a sort of “pimple shop bar,” where people could easily get treated as needed.

“That kind of immediacy that I know existed, I [was like], ‘Wait, why can’t we just do that?,’” Zoe Wechsler said.

From there, the duo built out the concept for Spotless, ideating a one-stop shop for immediate and more long-term treatments in an aesthetically pleasing and accessible space, or spot, as they are calling the locations.

With Spotless, the team is steering clear of the doctor’s office aesthetic, opting for soft lines, a chrome welcome desk, muted blue and purple tones and a signature scent of green tea, handpicked by the team.

“It’s just cool, young and modern, but still exuding that expertise,” Zoe Wechsler said of the space. “It’s so nice to walk into somewhere and feel this calm. You might not know what that is, but we have music [and] friendly faces. Acne is serious, but we still want to make you feel relaxed when you come in.”

In an effort to further prioritize the patient, Spotless will also offer packages of three, five and 10 credits rather than memberships, which can go toward treatments or follow-ups. Dr. Wechsler said given “acne comes randomly,” guests can use the packages as needed and also share them with friends and family. Spotless will also address one of the main pain points of a traditional doctor’s office by staying open later and on Saturdays.

To further differentiate the spot, Dr. Wechsler is also tapping into her expertise as a psychiatrist when it comes to treating acne at Spotless.

“We’ve been training the clinicians, who are nurse practitioners and physicians’ assistants, in my office and [training] my way of treating acne, which is… the diagnosing and prescription and injection piece, but also the psych stuff, so treating everyone with empathy, sitting with every patient, listening, asking open-ended questions,” she said.

Spotless will include a retail component with fragrance-free and non-comedogenic products from brands like Sofie Pavitt Face, La Roche Posay and Clinique, and complementary items, such as Chillhouse press-on nails and cuticle oil, as many experiencing acne report picking their cuticles out of anxiety.

“As you get better with acne [and] as we treat your acne, we also want to treat the other parts of you that have suffered, not necessarily directly,” said Zoe Wechsler.

As Spotless enters the market, reports of acne, particularly in adults, seem to be on the rise, which could be due to a number of issues, including stress and hormone disregulation.

“Over the last 20 years there likely is an increase and an uptick in acne among adults… The thing about acne is it’s always been really prevalent, and most people still think it’s for teenagers,” said Dr. Wechsler. “It’s still 80 percent in your 20s and maybe 54 percent in your 30s and 40s. It’s finally getting attention among people in their 30s, 40s and 50s.”

As far as expansion goes, the duo said they want to own New York and are eyeing a downtown spot in the spring. Additionally, they plan to eventually expand Spotless in major markets across the U.S. Dr. Wechsler will also unveil her own line of products for Spotless in 2026.
