Shauna Lindsay managed to capture the terrifying moment her stroke began whilst videoing her workout

An Irish model has shared the terrifying moment she suffered a stroke while boxing training.

Shauna Lindsay opened up to her followers last week about the scary moment she suffered a stroke in the gym while hitting pads with a trainer, urging fans on social media to go to the hospital if they experience any symptoms.

The 30-year-old from Limerick explained in a video post that a lot had been going on in her life in the lead up to the petrifying moment, including her mother’s cancer diagnosis and a bad breakup.

“To be honest so much sh*t’s been going on in my life, and every time I film I cry and I don’t want to cry. A lot of sh*t’s been going on in my life and I obviously haven’t been sharing that, I’ve just been trying to keep my head down and focus on work and myself

“Everything’s obviously come to a head because, what happened was I had a stroke. I do want to say what’s been going on because it’s literally a series of unfortunate events like Lemony Snicket couldn’t get f**king look in to be honest.

“Just before the summer I went through probably the most traumatic breakup I’ve ever went through. I’ve had bad breakups with good people and that’s hard enough but this was different, bad news, it’s just been so much.”

Sadly, after booking a trip with her friend in the aftermath of the breakup, Shauna found out the heart-breaking news that her mother has cancer, asking followers to keep her in their thoughts and prayers.

“I booked a trip with my friend Niamh, and it was on this holiday that I found out my mom has cancer… If you know me you know that my mom is my everything, my best friend, we call each other a million times a day, unnecessarily, but that’s just how we are.

“So finding that out has obviously been so f**king tough, but she’s f**king hard as nails you know so I’m trying not to worry. She’s actually just out of her surgery so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.”

Shauna continued, explaining that she is the fittest she has ever been, eating right and staying healthy – but when doing combos with her coach in the gym her arm went numb.

“By the way, like you’ve seen it on here, I’m definitely the healthiest, fittest I’ve ever been. I’ve been eating right, I’ve been training well, like I’m strong, I’m fit.

“Woke up Monday morning, went to boxing, in class and I was doing combos with one of the coaches… I threw the two punches and automatically on impact my whole arm went completely numb.

“My thought process at this time was ‘I am so strong that I’ve just managed to dislocate my own arm’. It literally felt like my arm was hanging off my body, I literally like picked it up… So I ran to the bathroom, I’m on the floor in the bathroom, and by this time the feeling’s kind of went back in my arm… I’m checking my watch, my heart rate is 160, like high but nothing hectic and I’m doing a high intense workout.

“On the bathroom floor, I genuinely think I had an out of body experience, the only way I can describe this, my breath, my consciousness, my inner voice, literally felt separate to my body like my vessel.

“I’m very lucky that my friend Christina was in that class. I seen her through the door and I was trying to get her attention. I was trying to tell her to get my phone but I honestly could have said get my microwave, the words were not wording. When I heard that out of my mouth, I was even more confused… then I kind of got embarrassed, so I was trying not to talk so much.

“We were on the way to the hospital and I would try and say things and just the words that were coming out instead of other words was just freaking the f**k out of me. By the time I actually got into the hospital, I had made a full recovery and that’s creepy in itself, the human body genuinely freaks me out so much.”

In a follow-up post, Shauna shared the scary moment she suffered a stroke, pinpointing the moment her arm and her face went numb.

“Trigger warning for anyone who’s actually had a stroke. My heartrate was going so fast just editing this. It might not look like much is happening but it’s mad what can be going on inside our bodies that we’ve no idea about.

“I can’t tell you how scary this moment was.. sharing for educational/curiosity purposes. My arm and face went back to normal after about 30 seconds (I wouldn’t have known my face dropped if it wasn’t for this video as I ran to the bathroom, nobody actually seen that) and that’s when my speech went, which lasted about 30 mins!”

If you ever experience any of the symptoms, please get to a hospital FAST.
