Jordan Webb has been named as the man who has died in Portavogie as police launch a murder investigation.

The emergency services were called to a property on New Harbopur Road in the Co Down village just after 7am on Monday, November 3, with 28-year-old Jordan being pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Inspector Hollie McCartan, from the Police Service’s Major Investigation Team, said: “Sadly, Mr Jordan Webb was pronounced dead at the scene.

“My thoughts are with Jordan’s family and loved ones at this most difficult time.

“Our enquiries continue, and I would reiterate my appeal to anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 246 of 03/11/2025.”

A 21-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion on murder following Jordan’s death remains in police custody at this time.

Local councillors have said the Portavogie community has been shocked and saddened following the suspected murder of a man on Monday, November 3, as police appeal for information to help them in their investigation.

The ambulance service received a call shortly after 7am on Monday, November 3, with an ambulance and air ambulance being sent to the scene.

Who has died?

Jordan Webb, 28, has died following the incident, with police believing that he may have been murdered.

The ambulance serivce has said that “no patients were taken from the scene”.

What are the police saying?

As part of their appeal, police have said they are keen to talk to anyone who was in the New Harbor Road area of Portavogie between midday on Sunday, November 2 and 8am on Monday, November 3.

Detective Inspector Hollie McCartan said: “Our enquiries are continuing, and I am appealing to anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 246 of 03/11/2025. I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the New Harbour Road area of Portavogie between midday on Sunday 2 November and 8am today, Monday 3 November, and who witnessed or heard anything untoward, or who may have captured dash cam footage.”

Police have arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of murder, and he remains in police custody at this time.
