There has been a huge outpouring of sympathy for the family circle since news of the double loss emerged.

One person wrote: “So sad, but so very sweet also. It’s how I’d want to go, not living a day more than the love of my life so I didn’t have to miss them.”

“Absolutely heartbreaking for the family. In our thoughts and prayers. May they both Rest In eternal peace,” said another.

Another said: “Really sad news that they passed hours apart. Thoughts and prayers with all the Hannon & Lavery Families.”

And one wrote: “God bless. Two beautiful souls departing this earth together. Rest in peace.”

Another shared their fond memories of the couple, adding: “Oh my goodness that is so sad losing mum and dad at the same time. Your mum was such a lovely woman I used to go to Imelda Truesdale craft class with her.

“She was a kind, smiling, adorable lady. I also met your dad too. He was such a character and your mum just adored him. They are at peace together. God bless.”
