More than 134,000 users have reported problems on Down Detector this afternoon, mostly in major cities across the country
Thousands of broadband users across the UK are grappling with connectivity issues this afternoon, as a significant network outage is currently underway. The technical glitches seem to have started around 3pm and persist.
The latest data from outage monitor Down Detector indicates that Vodafone’s broadband service is currently experiencing widespread disruption. Over 134,000 reports have been lodged regarding this disruptive outage, which commenced just before 3pm.
The bulk of these issues are being reported in major cities such as London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Cardiff and parts of Northern Ireland.
Just over two-thirds of the problems (67%) are related to landline internet, while a quarter (25%) are stemming from mobile internet. An additional 8% of Vodafone users are completely without signal due to the outage, reports the Daily Star.
A spokesperson for Vodafone said: “We are aware of a major issue on our network currently affecting broadband, 4G and 5G services. We appreciate our customers’ patience while we work to resolve this as soon as possible.”
One person said: “And this happens freakin daily! ! ! WTF? ! ? ! ? ! I got work to do! ! ! I’m freaking another provider got enough of this bullcrap.”
Many others also expressed their frustration about the outage in a flurry of social media posts, with one person querying: “@VodafoneUK just me or have you fallen off the planet? No broadband, no website, no cell signal?”.
Another added: “Looks like @vodafone are using a big outage as my broadband and mobile data have gone off ..”
A third person commented: “Vodafone home broadband seems to be down? No internet. Started at about 15:00 today.”
Meanwhile, a fourth user on X posted: “@VodafoneUK broadband has gone down. None of my apps are working from vodafone and your number is not working have you got issues?”.
