Emmerdale has been airing explosive scenes on the soap
Emmerdale viewers were quick to notice a ‘blunder’ in Charity Dingle’s baby secret plotline.
Fans of the soap will remember that Charity, played by Emma Atkins, recently agreed to be a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah Sugden. Sarah is keen to become a mum after her emergency hysterectomy.
After an embryo transfer, Charity found out she was pregnant, much to the disappointment of her husband Mack Boyd, who had hoped they would have their own child together.
However, following a tumble in the woods and subsequent bleeding, Charity feared the embryo transfer hadn’t been successful.
In response, Sarah’s grandad Cain Dingle offered to fund another attempt. During a follow-up appointment, Charity was shocked to find out she was indeed pregnant, reports the Daily Star.
In true soap opera style, a series of flashbacks showed that Charity had secretly slept with ex-lover Ross Barton (Mike Parr) after a heated row with Mack.
Upon finding out Charity is pregnant, Ross confronted his ex, asking if the baby was his, which Charity denied. However, Ross was correct, as after receiving the paternity test results, confirming Ross as the father, Charity has been having a tough time.
In recent scenes, Charity has been confiding in Chas Dingle, who has been urging her to tell the truth. After considering an abortion, Charity told Chas that she couldn’t go through with it and Chas hoped this would mean Charity would reveal the truth to everyone.
In typical Charity fashion, she had her son Ryan Stocks alter the original paternity test results to indicate that Ross isn’t the father of her baby.
Subsequently, Charity confessed her actions to Chas, leading to a heated argument between them, leaving Sarah puzzled about their dispute, to which they lied straight to her face.
Throughout some scenes, Charity and Chas have been seen arguing loudly at Charity’s home. This has left soap fans baffled, particularly as Charity’s husband Mack is recuperating at home after being held captive by John Sugden.
One viewer took to social media to question: “So Mack cant leave the house yet because of what happened. Where was he when Charity and Chas were having a full on conversation about lying about the baby??? Surely if he was upstairs he’d hear them…”
A different user responded: “I was just thinking the same thing lol”, another added: “I said the same where’s Mac” while another viewer remarked: “I said that as well. ? ?”.
However, another viewer quickly suggested: “He might be out somewhere…”
Emmerdale continues on weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
