South London singer, songwriter and cultural powerhouse Joy Crookes has announced her first Australian dates since 2022. She will headline Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on January 2 and Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on January 3, part of a short run that follows her celebrated Glastonbury set and a sold-out UK and EU tour.
The announcement arrives off the back of Crookes’ sophomore album Juniper – a record praised for its candour, humour and emotional intensity. Written in two distinct chapters, the album moves from playful, hedonistic early sketches to a darker second act shaped by a period of illness and recovery. Crookes frames love, trust, and vulnerability in stark terms, her voice carrying the weight of that lived experience.
Produced by long-time collaborators Blue May, Tev’n and Harvey Grant, Juniper features guest turns from Vince Staples (Pass The Salt) and Kano (Mathematics), while standout tracks such as I Know You’d Kill and Perfect Crime further showcase her breadth. The closing track Paris reflects on a formative queer relationship, bringing the album to a close with a moment of quiet clarity.
With Juniper, Crookes continues to carve out a singular space in British music. These Australian dates, framed by her appearance at New Year’s At The Bowl, offer fans the first chance to hear her new work live on this side of the world.
