Man hospitalised after alleged assault in Derry

One man has been arrested

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the report of an assault in Derry on Friday.

Police say they received a report yesterday afternoon, September 26, that a man had been assaulted in the John Street area by at least two men. He was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries to his head.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “One man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

“Enquiries are ongoing and police would appeal to anyone who was in the area on Friday afternoon from 4.00pm to 6.00pm and who may have witnessed any assault or anyone who has any information in relation to the incidents to contact 101 quoting reference number CW 1018 – 26/09/25.
