A baby name consultant has shared the classic baby names poised for a resurgence in 2025

Vintage names, often referred to as ‘old lady’ names, have been making a comeback in recent years as parents seek unique names for their little ones.

Baby name consultant Colleen Slagen, who works with children’s boutique JoJo Maman Bébé, has revealed the classic baby names set for a revival in 2025.

She suggested that Margot, Eloise, and Vivian could all be popular choices for babies born in 2025, according to the Express.

The baby name consultant also said: “I think we’ll start seeing more traditional male names being chosen for girls such as Drew, Noah and Dylan.”

These vintage names are expected to become more popular again with parents in 2025, after being harshly viewed as “outdated” in recent times.

Colleen added: “For girls, Louise, Dorothy, Mabel and Maisie are on the rise and for boys it’s Arthur, Archie, and Howard. Judith and Reggie have also recently been used.”

She stated that “various trends are happening simultaneously”; in addition to the return of classic names, “short and effortless” names are growing in popularity, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The baby name consultant explained that people are gravitating towards names that consist of one to two syllables, and only contain three to four letters.

She explained: “”For example, names like Cal, Mack, Vann and Case for boys and Navy, Indy, Drew, and Reya for girls.”

Another emerging trend is the presence of names ending in “o” for a boy, and names ending in an “a” for girls.

“Short names can feel brisk, but an ending vowel softens them which appeals to many people,” Colleen said, adding the examples of “Milo and Hugo.”
