Michael Conlan made his ring-walk flanked by James McClean and Simon Zebo for his main event bout with Jack Bateson – and the atmosphere was electric
The 3Arena in Dublin was buzzing when Michael Conlan, accompanied by James McClean and Simon Zebo, made his entrance for his main event bout against Jack Bateson.
The 33 year old has consistently used ‘Grace’ as his entrance song, and Friday night was no exception. As the iconic ballad began, everyone in the renowned arena stood up and joined in the singing. The noise levels soared even higher when McClean and Zebo came into view.
For Conlan, this walk was particularly special as he has long awaited to do it. Notably, tonight’s bout is the first time he has fought professionally in Dublin.
Conlan, who admits he is in the ‘twilight’ of his career, recognises that such moments are becoming increasingly rare as his career draws to a close.
In fact, the Belfast native told the BBC earlier this week that a defeat would signal the end of his career. he need not have worried as he produced a stunning fourth round knockout of Jack Bateson.
