Irish Olympic ace shares loved-up snaps from holiday with GAA star boyfriend Mikey Breen

The sprint star has been enjoying some downtime with her Tipperary GAA star boyfriend Mikey Breen ahead of next month’s World Championships in Tokyo

Sharlene Mawdsley, the team Ireland sprint sensation, is currently basking in the sun on a well-deserved holiday with her boyfriend Mikey Breen. This weeky, she took to social media to share some snaps of their romantic getaway as they enjoy a break before next month’s Athletics World Championship.

With the caption “A little bit of us,” Mawdsley shared pictures with her 274,000 Instagram followers. Her post has been flooded with comments and likes, with Olympic teammates Mona McSharry and Sophie Becker, as well as Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson, who recently returned to action after nearly a year out due to injury, interacting with the post.

Earlier this summer, Mawdsley and Tipperary GAA star Breen made their relationship public, and the happy couple were seen enjoying the Premier County’s All-Ireland hurling win after Breen starred for Tipperary in the final at Croke Park, reports the Irish Mirror.

Mawdsley recently clinched a National title in the 200m, narrowly beating Sarah Lavin in an intense race at Morton Stadium earlier this month, and the Newport AC athlete has been selected for the Ireland squad that will travel to Tokyo for next month’s World Championships.

The 27 year old has shone in relay events throughout her career and after winning that national title – the first senior gold outdoor medal of her career – she confessed that she was contemplating focusing solely on the relay in Tokyo.

“I haven’t actually decided,” Mawdsley said. “I know I won’t say no to the relays, I’m always the first one in, but we’ll see about the individual, it has been a tough year. We’ll see closer to the time.”
