NI actor Charlie Lawson has come to the defence of Eamonn Holmes after the presenter used a racial slur while speaking with Kerry Katona in a TV interview last week.
Kerry, 45, made an appearance on GB News last week to discuss cosmetic surgery procedures when she revealed the results of her facelift from the previous year.
Eamonn described her eyes using a racially insensitive phrase that has been banned by the Home Office since 2021 due to its offensive nature, reports the Mirror.

The North Belfast man asked Kerry: “Are you happy with the eyes?”. Co-presenter Ellie Costello said: “They look good, they look lovely.”
Kerry replied “Yeah,” and added “I had them done over a year ago now. You know it was making my eyes feel a bit heavy, so I had an uplift. But what I don’t like is when..”
Eamonn said: “And you don’t look oriental or anything, do you?”
Kerry Katona paused momentarily before replying: “I just wanted the skin removed. I didn’t want to change my face. I just wanted the skin that was hanging over my eyes.”
After his interview with Kerry, Eamonn found himself having to apologise to viewers.
He said: “Apparently, you’re not allowed to describe someone as looking oriental or… I don’t know how I would then describe Kerry Katona if her eyes change shape.”
Kerry later expressed her affection for Eamonn on Instagram, telling him “I love you” and reassuring her followers she was neither “left speechless” nor offended, reported the Mirror.
In a video posted on X on Monday night, Charlie Lawson said: “So, let me get this straight, my friend Eamonn Holmes is interviewing Kerry Katona, who’s had something to do with her eyes. And he says, ‘Are you sure you don’t feel a little oriental’?’
“OK, interview moves on, obviously some buck-ass producer in his ear says, ‘Eamonn, you can’t say oriental’.
“For f*** sake. Are you serious? And the big man has to apologise to people for saying oriental. What in the name of God do you want… Does that mean you can’t say ‘Chinese’, for example? I mean, in the name of God…”
