Northern Ireland weather forecast for Bank Holiday weekend

Not to alarm any of our readers but this weekend is the last Bank Holiday weekend before Christmas – and the weather forecast is shaping up to be a good one.

After a couple of days with high temperatures and sunshine, the heat will continue into the weekend. The Met Office is predicting highs of 22C on Sunday and Monday, although a few days of cloudy conditions are also expected.

New research from the Met Office reveals that we spend on average 56.6 hours, or two days and 9 hours, talking about the weather over the course of a year – and in Northern Ireland it is little wonder, considering we never know what we’re going to get!

Here’s the forecast for the next couple of days:

Friday, August 22

Another dry day but staying rather cloudy with just the odd bright or sunny spell. Light westerly winds. Maximum temperature 20C.

Saturday, August 23

Sunny intervals changing to cloudy by early evening. Highs of 20C and lows of 14C.

Sunday, August 24

Sunny intervals changing to partly cloudy by night time. Highs of 22C.

Monday, August 25 – Bank Holiday

Sunny changing to partly cloudy by night time. Temperatures reaching 22C in some areas.

Tuesday, August 26

Sunny intervals changing to partly cloudy by early evening. Maximum temperature 21C.

A Met Office spokesperson added: “Remaining largely dry and settled over the weekend to Monday. Staying rather cloudy but with sunny spells breaking through. The odd light shower possible Saturday and Sunday.”
