Clann Éireann and Crossmaglen head the betting, but several teams will fancy their chances in what appears to be a competitive renewal of the Armagh SFC
From being one of the most predictable county Championships to one of the most competitive, the Armagh SFC gets under way with weekend with no shortage of challengers.
Last year was the first time since 2017 that Crossmaglen didn’t feature in the county final having lifted the Gerry Fegan Cup in 2022 and 2023.
Lurgan rivals Clann Éireann and Clan na Gael contested the decider with the former coming out on top.
Ruairi Lavery’s men will be hard to topple once more and are coming off the back of a strong League campaign while Cross have a new manager this term in former Louth star Shane Lennon.
However, Rangers will be without Armagh ace Oisin O’Neill for at least the group stages as he continues to recover from a calf injury.
League champions Killeavy, with Armagh legend Steven McDonnell at the helm, claimed the Division 1A crown while Madden have reached the last four of the Championship for the last two seasons.
Armagh have retained the group format for this year’s Championship meaning the big guns will all be expected to progress to the knockout stages following a seeded draw.
The top team will progress through to the quarter-finals with the second-placed team in each group facing a third-placed team in the preliminary quarter-finals. The team finishing bottom in each group will be eliminated from the Championship.
The teams from Division 1A will be away from home twice in their three games while Division 1B teams have two home games.
