Joey Dunlop’s 2000 TT Treble Celebrated with Pop-Up Exhibition at Classic TT
In 2000, Joey Dunlop showcased to the world why he was the best of the best. The treble.
One final, unforgettable week that concluded a legendary career and left an enduring imprint on TT history.
Now, a quarter of a century later, you can revisit that iconic story with the Joey Dunlop Pop-Up Exhibition and Cinema – open daily during the Classic TT from Wednesday 20 to Friday 29 August.
Within the Mercury Club situated near the TT Grandstand, you’ll immerse yourself in the tale of that unforgettable week in 2000.
Joey’s triple-winning machines are the main attraction, accompanied by his iconic yellow helmet, leathers, trophies, and a collection of personal items that bring both the man and the magic to life, from paddock passes to the unopened champagne bottle from the Ultra Lightweight Race, to his unmistakable race transporter. It’s all on display.
Also featured are the leathers and helmets worn by fellow 2000 podium finishers John McGuinness MBE and Michael Rutter – a nod to the names, rivalries, and respect that characterised that era.
But this is more than just an exhibition, it’s brimming with atmosphere. The pop-up includes a cinema space showing footage from those incredible races as well as iconic Joey cinematography, plus a cosy coffee bar where you can exchange stories and let your own memories come alive.
Then on Thursday 28 August, don’t miss a special edition of The TT Podcast, recorded live inside the exhibit with guests who witnessed and played a part during that extraordinary week.
As part of the recording, you’ll also hear from Stephen Davison, the photographer whose images from the 2000 TT are a focal point.
His ‘Behind the Lens’ session offers a clear view into the stories behind the shots, providing honest, emotional and unforgettable insight.
The celebrations for Joey and the 2025 Classic TT will culminate in a touching tribute lap by Michael Dunlop MBE, who will be riding a replica Honda SP1 and wearing replica leathers and helmet to recreate one of the most iconic moments in TT history.
Whether you were there on the hedgerows or discovered the legend later, this is your opportunity to immerse yourself in the story and celebrate Joey Dunlop’s famous 2000 treble – 25 years on.
