Primark’s ‘stylish’ £5 bag looks ‘similar’ to £200 designer tote

Primark’s new bag looks very similar to a designer version – but its a fraction of the cost

Primark has launched a new handbag that shows a remarkable similarity to a much more expensive designer alternative. The budget fashion retailer, renowned for its wallet-friendly clothing and homeware, may have just unveiled its next big hit.

The store’s Textured Zip Top Crossbody Bag appears strikingly similar to a design from upmarket label L. K. Bennett, but comes at a fraction of the price. Shoppers can snag the Primark version for £5, while the other version is currently priced at £199 online, reports the Daily Record.

Both bags share remarkably similar features, boasting a leather-effect appearance and textured surface in an identical black colour. Each design also showcases a similar structured silhouette, zip fastening, gold-toned fittings and an adjustable crossbody strap.

Nevertheless, several key distinctions exist between the two – notably that Primark’s version uses synthetic leather, whereas L. K. Bennett’s is crafted from genuine leather. The high-end bag also displays the brand’s signature logo prominently on the front, which is absent from Primark’s budget-friendly alternative.

Primark describes the bag as a “textured crossbody bag with zip closure and a compact shape for easy everyday wear.” It is available in black, ecru, blush and light green.

Primark’s Textured Zip Top Crossbody Bag is priced at £5, while the L.K. Bennett Hudson Black Croc-Effect Leather Cross-Body Bag comes in at £199. This means shoppers could save £194 by opting for the budget version.
