The BBC has announced that the iconic Gladiators will return later this year for a celebrity special and four stars are set to take on the likes of Bionic, Dynamite and Viper
Gladiators has revealed the star-studded cast for its celebrity special – and viewers can look forward to familiar faces from Strictly, I’m A Celebrity and Lorraine tackling the legendary challenges.
The popular BBC One programme will return later this year with four celebrities facing off in Duel, The Wall and the infamous Eliminator rounds.
The BBC revealed today that fitness guru Joe Wicks MBE and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! champion Sam Thompson will be competing in Gladiators: Celebrity Special.
They’ll be accompanied by boxer and former Strictly contestant Nicola Adams OBE alongside TV personality Vogue Williams, reports the Mirror.
Joe Wicks MBE commented: “Gladiators is one of the most iconic shows of all time, and I’m absolutely buzzing to be taking part. I grew up watching it, so to now step into the arena myself is going to be an incredible experience. I know it’s going to be tough, but I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got.”

Sam expressed his enthusiasm, saying he’s moving straight from one challenge to another.
“Bring it on and get me up that travelator! But on a serious note, I genuinely can’t wait to take part, I’m so excited. I grew up watching the show, so to now be taking on the Gladiators in real life is really cool,” he remarked.
Nicola confessed she was “absolutely buzzing” to participate in the special, saying: “It’s such an iconic show and growing up, I loved watching the epic battles and strong personalities. Now, getting the chance to step into that arena myself, it’s a whole new kind of challenge. I may be a champion in the boxing ring, but this is different. I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got!”.
Meanwhile, Vogue revealed: “This is wild. I have loved this show since I was little and I’ll be living out my childhood dream just stepping into the arena. But I can’t quite process how I’ll actually face these amazing Gladiators. I’m just delighted to be a contender!”
The pair will face off against Apollo, Athena, Bionic, Comet, Cyclone, Diamond, Dynamite, Electro, Fire, Fury, Giant, Hammer, Legend, Nitro, Phantom, Sabre, Steel, and Viper – the muscle-bound warriors making their comeback to the physically demanding cast.
The announcement arrives just a month after the BBC confirmed Gladiators would return following the phenomenal ratings triumph of the previous series.
With Barney and Bradley Walsh at the helm, Gladiators will once again be filmed at its Sheffield venue and pledges to be more explosive than ever.
