EastEnders star Shona McGarty has been a fan favourite on this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! but her former co-star has said it ‘can’t be easy’ for her.
Recent weeks have seen I’m A Celebrity viewers witness this year’s campmates revealing intimate details about their lives away from the spotlight.
Among them is EastEnders actress Shona McGarty, who has bravely shared her personal heartbreak and battles with anxiety.
As the 34-year-old moves closer to potentially claiming the Queen of the Jungle crown, with the series concluding on Sunday evening, one of her former colleagues has sung her praises whilst discussing her jungle journey.
In conversation with Betway, her ex-EastEnders colleague James Bye has revealed why she might be finding the ITV programme challenging.
The Martin Fowler actor emphasised that Shona is an extremely ‘sensitive’ individual and suggested it wouldn’t require much persuasion for her to agree to join the lineup, reports the Express.

When questioned about how he believes she’s managing, he responded: “She’s such a kind-hearted, genuine person. It can’t be easy for her in there.
“I know what she’s like – she’s a very sensitive person, so for her to take that leap and jump up and do something like I’m A Celeb, I think she’s incredible.”
With the competition nearing its finale, the soap actor was asked how far he expects Shona to progress as contestants face elimination.
He responded: “She’s being very truthful to herself – and that’s who she is. You just never know with these shows; they’re brilliantly made.
“They’re cleverly constructed because they have to be entertaining; they can’t just film people sitting on a campfire, chatting.
“They’re edited to be entertaining. I think it’s the beauty of that show because it’s out of your control. If you go in there and you’re yourself and you’re true to your beliefs, I don’t think there’s anything more you can do. I don’t think it matters who wins or loses.”
So far during the series, ITV audiences have witnessed Alex Scott, Eddie Kadi and Vogue Williams depart the jungle.
On Monday evening, Vogue became the most recent celebrity to make her exit as she chatted with Ant and Dec about her time in camp.
The 40-year-old revealed: When questioned about how it felt to leave the camp, she responded: “It feels good, I have to say, it was getting really hard, and I’m so hungry! But it’s such a weird thing because you kind of want to stay as well.
“It’s so fun in there, you’re just doing so many random things, everyone is such good fun and I’ll be sad to leave.”
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! can be viewed on ITVX.
