NI council dismisses ‘nightmare’ claims from rate payers that phone calls from public go unanswered

“I phoned 155 times, eventually got through, it’s a nightmare, good luck…you wouldn’t need to be dying.”

Claims of a “nightmare” of Lagan Valley unanswered council phone calls have been dismissed by the local authority.

Residents of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council on social media have highlighted an alleged customer care problem over the last number of weeks.

However, LCCC told the Local Democracy Reporting Servicethat it has “no indication” of any telecoms issues. Complaints on social media include: “I phoned 155 times, eventually got through, it’s a nightmare, good luck…you wouldn’t need to be dying.”

Another said: “Anyone know how to get through to LCCC, 45 minute on hold then cut off. Not good enough.”

A council spokesperson said: “We regularly run tests of our phone lines and have no indication of any current issues accessing our services via telephone.

“We would ask anyone experiencing an issue to let our customer care team know via email on: Customer.Care@lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk .

“Residents can also contact us online using the relevant form at www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/contact.”
