A man wanted over a murder in Dublin has been arrested in Belfast.
Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s International Policing Unit arrested a 22-year-old man in Belfast this morning, Wednesday, November 5.
He was wanted in relation to the fatal stabbing of a 63-year-old man in the Finglas area of Dublin on November 26, last year.
A PSNI spokeswoman said: “The 22-year-old man is wanted in the Republic of Ireland to stand trial for murder.
“The murder offence occurred in the Finglas area of Dublin on 26th November 2024 when a 63 year old male was fatally stabbed.
“The suspect was detained today on a Irish extradition warrant and is due to appear before Laganside Extradition Court later today.”
Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit said: “Today’s arrest is an important step in progressing this murder case.
“Police Service of Northern Ireland continue to work closely with An Garda Siochana to locate, arrest and extradite those who attempt to run from the consequences of their actions. The Irish border cannot be used to hide from police and the courts.”
