Emmerdale fans are convinced that a former resident could be making a return to the village in a shock twist, as the soap’s harrowing new storyline continues
Emmerdale fans are forecasting the comeback of a past inhabitant in a surprising Carl Holliday twist.
The soap is presently unfolding a distressing new plot involving Carl (Charlie Joyce) and Clemmie Reed (Mabel Addison).
Last week, it was unveiled that Carl – son of soap icon Jimmy King (Nick Miles) – had obtained and circulated an indecent image of a child. It transpired that it was a photo of Clemmie that Carl had disseminated amongst school children, leaving Clemmie embarrassed and her mother Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) livid.
Consequently, Carl, Jimmy and stepmother Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) were visited by the police. The officers sternly warned the family that they would be treating the matter seriously – much to Nicola and Jimmy’s dismay.
In Monday’s episode (October 13), the repercussions continued when Carl was interrogated at the police station and confessed that he was the one who sent the photo around. Following Carl’s admission, Nicola was informed that social services could now be involved in the ongoing investigation.
However, amidst all the drama, fans speculate that the soap could be reintroducing a former resident. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, viewers suspect Carl’s mum Juliette Holliday (Amelia Curtis) could make a return, reports the Daily Star.
One viewer commented: “Soooo if social services are gonna get involved with Nico and Jimmy, this could be an opportunity to bring Elliot’s mum Juliette back to the village time to test that 15 year marriage I reckon!”. Another fan concurred: “She would cause some trouble.”
Fans will remember Juliette first arrived in Emmerdale back in 2014, when it emerged she had fallen pregnant with Jimmy’s child following a blunder at the fertility clinic. Rather than receiving sperm from her chosen donor, she was mistakenly inseminated with Jimmy’s.
She turned up in the village demanding Jimmy sign documentation to relinquish his parental rights to their unborn baby. Following Carl’s birth, she granted Jimmy parental responsibility in 2016 before departing the village.
Juliette’s most recent appearance was in 2021 when she returned seeking to reconnect with Carl. Her return created significant drama and put pressure on Jimmy and Nicola’s marriage.
Nevertheless, Juliette eventually relocated to New York and severed all contact with Carl once more, as her new partner Allister disliked children and she found motherhood challenging.
