Emmerdale fans were left scratching their heads after Lucas attacked Carl

Emmerdale has ignited a fresh rivalry between the King family and the Tates following a brutal assault.

In Wednesday’s visit to the village (October 8), an elated step-mum Nicola King (portrayed by Nicola Wheeler) discovered that her son, Carl Holliday (Charlie Joyce), has developed a romantic interest in Clemmie Reed (Mabel Addison).

However, Nicola was taken aback when she received a call from Carl’s school informing her that he had been struck by another pupil.

Shortly after, Dawn Fletcher (Oliver Bromley) and her boyfriend Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) also got a call from a teacher explaining that her son Lucas Taylor (Noah Ryan Aspinall) had assaulted a fellow student at school, and they quickly deduced that the victim was Carl.

Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) couldn’t get his adoptive son Lucas to confess the reason behind the fight, nor could Joe; as a result, Dawn insisted that he apologise to Carl, reports the Daily Star.

As Dawn and Nicola bickered over their sons’ brawl, the dispute began to intensify.

Nicola attributed Dawn’s personal life and affair with Joe to young Lucas’s behaviour, while Dawn tried to get her son to apologise to Carl.

“I’m not sorry. I’m glad I hit him,” Lucas declared as Carl avoided eye contact with his attacker.

After Nicola labelled him a “jealous little bully”, he and Dawn returned home.

Nicola reassured Carl that he’d be safe once Lucas was expelled, but Carl didn’t seem too sure. She is also concerned that Kim Tate (Claire King) might interfere in the feud and side with Lucas.

Emmerdale viewers were left scratching their heads over Lucas’s attack on Carl, with one fan posting on X: “What has wee Carl done #Emmerdale.”

Another queried: “What did Carl do? #Emmerdale”, while a third added: “They should ask Lucas WHY he hit Carl. There must have been a reason #emmerdale.”

Despite the parents initially brushing off the boys’ fight as a typical schoolyard disagreement, the reality is far more sinister.

In forthcoming episodes of the ITV soap, the true motive behind Lucas’s assault on Carl will be revealed.

Carl found himself in hot water after circulating an inappropriate image of Lucas’s sister Clemmie, prompting Lucas to step in and defend her with force.
