Emmerdale fans were left feeling emotional on Wednesday
Emmerdale has paid a touching tribute to a beloved character, seven years after their tragic death.
Recent weeks have been dramatic on the ITV soap, with John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) wrongdoings finally being exposed.
The antagonist dramatically dragged himself and his spouse, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), over a cliff edge, before coercing Caleb Miligan (William Ash) into assisting his flight overseas.
Meanwhile, Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) has been getting ready to give evidence against his attacker, Mike (Macaulay Cooper), whilst concealing the truth from his new bride, Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), who harbours a sinister secret herself.
Another continuing plot centres on April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), who has been unwillingly selling drugs for Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) in a bid to settle Dylan Penders’ (Fred Kettle) outstanding debt, reports the Daily Star.

In Wednesday’s (October 1) instalment, now streaming on ITVX, Aaron attempted to rebuild his life following John’s exit, whilst his mother Chas (Lucy Pargeter) got ready to commemorate a significant occasion.
“Who’s the flowers for?” Aaron enquired, with Chas responding: “For Grace, it’s her birthday. Me and Paddy are going up to her grave in a bit.”
Soap fans will remember that Grace was Chas and Paddy Kirk’s (Dominic Brunt) baby daughter, who survived just 29 minutes after her birth in 2018.
Chas became increasingly anxious during her twenty-week scan when the sonographer spotted something alarming. A specialist subsequently diagnosed Grace with Bilateral Renal Agenesis, a rare condition where both kidneys and bladder fail to form properly.
The medical professional later informed Chas that her unborn child wouldn’t survive. Whilst Paddy initially proposed ending the pregnancy, the pair chose to continue to full term and donate their daughter’s organs.
Elsewhere today’s episode, Paddy visited Butlers Farm to examine one of Moira’s (Natalie J Robb) livestock.
“I hear it’s Grace’s birthday today,” Moira then said, before Paddy confirmed that his daughter would have been seven. He added: “Me and Chas are going to take her a present later, it’s a bit of a tradition that we do every year.”
Numerous Emmerdale fans were left feeling moved after Grace was mentioned, with many flocking to social media to express their reactions.
“Aw it’s Grace’s 7th heavenly birthday,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another added: “That was so sweet of them to mention Grace. Such a sad storyline,” while a third said: “Aww that’s made me emotional hearing Paddy and Chas talking about Grace.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX
