Castlereagh Road crash victim named by police

William Hunter was taken to hospital where he died a short time later

The PSNI have confirmed the name of a man who died following a crash in East Belfast.

37-year-old William Hunter from the Belfast area died following a collision which happened on Sunday, September 28 on the Castlereagh Road.

At around 11.50pm, police received a report of a one-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.

Inspector Cherith Adair of the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit added: “Officers alongside colleagues from other emergency services attended and Mr Hunter, was taken to hospital where he sadly died a short time later.

“Enquiries are continuing and we appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage which could assist our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1693 of 28/09/25.”
