She has been remembered as a “wonderful lady and mentor”
Tributes have been paid to a “much loved” primary school teacher after her death following a short illness. Alison Wilson had been teaching at Coagh Primary School since 2000, and has been remembered for “playing an invaluable role in school life.”
She was also remembered for her singing with Coagh Presbyterian Church and local choir The Bridge Singers. Leading tributes to Alison, the school said her passing was a “huge loss for our school and local community.”
In a post on social media, Coagh Primary School said: “It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the death of Mrs Alison Wilson, our much-loved colleague, friend and teacher at Coagh Primary School.

“Mrs Wilson passed away last night after a short illness, and this loss will have a profound impact on our entire school community.
“Since joining the staff at Coagh Primary School in 2000, Mrs Wilson played an invaluable role in school life, serving as SENCO, Literacy Co-ordinator and stepping into the role of Acting Principal on several occasions. She also prepared our pupils for countless Christmas concerts and led the choir to success at local festivals.
“Beyond school, Mrs Wilson was a dedicated member of Coagh Presbyterian Church, where she regularly sang, and was also a member of local choir ‘The Bridge Singers’.
“Alison had many passions outside school too – she loved attending the theatre to see musicals and shows, enjoyed city breaks with her family during the school holidays, and cherished catching up with friends over coffee in the many cafés she frequented.
“This is a huge loss for our school and local community. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband David, children Carolyn and Matthew, and the wider family circle at this very difficult time.”
Paying tribute, one person described Alison as a “wonderful lady and teacher.” They said: “My thoughts are with David, Carolyn, Matthew, and the whole family, may Mrs Wilson’s memory be a blessing to all who loved her and were loved by her. Such a wonderful lady and teacher, she influenced the lives of so many children who were lucky to have her as a teacher and mentor.”
Another added: “Our heartfelt sympathy at this very difficult time to David, Carolyn and Matthew. Alison was one of the most kindest and caring people we had the pleasure of knowing.”
A funeral service for Alison will take place on Sunday, September 28 at 3pm in Coagh Presbyterian Church, followed by burial in the adjoining church yard.
