Swansea City dumped Premier League club Nottingham Forest out of the Carabao Cup with Ethan Galbraith playing a starring role
It hasn’t been a bad month for Ethan Galbraith as he followed up two impressive performances for Northern Ireland by starring in a Carabao Cup giant-killing for his club.
Galbraith was exceptional as he helped Swansea claw back a two-goal deficit against Nottingham Forest at the Swansea.com Stadium on Wednesday night.
Stoppage-time goals from Zan Vipotnik and Cameron Burgess, who had previously headed home to give the hosts an unlikely lifeline, were enough to seal an incredible victory.
The former Linfield starlet capped off a stunning performance as his shot with virtually the last kick of the game crashed off the woodwork before falling for Burgess to score.
Galbraith’s stats were impressive as he finished 95% pass accuracy against the Premier League outfit, who also failed to dispossess him over the 90 minutes.
The 24-year-old’s showing earn rave reviews on social media with some fans from his former club, Manchester United, even calling for him to return to Old Trafford.
“The summer of 2026 will almost certainly be dominated by Manchester United’s desire for a new central midfielder, but in reality, the club could need three,” the United In Focus fan site posted after the game.
“Galbraith could be perfect in this regard, to come in and play a role in the squad, although in a three-man midfield, he could be a starter, depending on what happens with the manager. Galbraith is one to watch.”
After impressing with Leyton Orient over the past two season following his departure from the Red Devils, Galbraith made £1.6m to the Swans during the summer.
And he has kicked on again with the Swansea fans delighted to have the midfielder in their ranks.
“Morgan Gibbs-White has Ethan Galbraith posters on his bedroom wall,” posted @TheSwanPortal after the win on Wednesday.
@neworetep posted: “My new favourite player. A genuine Rolls Royce of a midfielder. Destined for the Premier League. Ethan Galbraith take a bow…”
